Obituary of Cynthia A. Cook

Cynthia A. Cook, 76, of Colchester, died Thursday, April 18, 2024. She was born in Hartford, CT on October 31,1947 to the late Robert and Helen (Bobrowski) Cook. After graduating high school from Our Lady of Angels Academy, she went on to study embalming at the New England Institute of Anatomy, Sanitary Science and Embalming in Boston.  Then became a licensed funeral director in New York City.  After taking some time off to travel with friends in Europe she settled for a couple of years in Puerto Rico. When her sister Sheila moved to Rhode Island and married, Cindy moved to be closer to her and worked in pathology research at Rhode Island Hospital.   Her sister died soon after and Cindy moved back to Connecticut. For the next 20 plus years she worked as an assistant to the Chief Medical Examiner at UCONN’s John Dempsey Hospital.

Cindy had a dynamic personality, always knowing who she was and what she wanted out of life.  When she wasn’t dressed in her scrubs, she’d be wearing animal print and have accessories with ‘bling’. She was always the life of the party, whether with friends or family, and loved that her birthday was on Halloween.  She loved kayaking and ‘glamping’ with her cousins Val and Gene Anne.  She loved animals and there was always a special cat sharing her life at home.  Cindy had a loving and caring heart and was always there to help any person or animal in need.

Cynthia is survived by her cat Biskit, her cousins Valerie Essex of Williston VT, Gene Anne Cote and her husband Oliver of Long Creek SC, Leslie Giddings of Columbia CT, Edward Bobrowski and his wife Susan of Colchester CT and Charlene Mixter of Glastonbury CT and all of their families. She was predeceased by her sister Sheila Wardwell of RI.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 at 10:00 am in Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
