Obituary of Bruce A. Whitcomb

Bruce Alfred Whitcomb, 86, of Rocky Hill and recently of South Windsor, CT passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 7, 2024 after a long fought and courageous battle with Alzheimers.

Son of the late G. Alfred and Virginia Whitcomb, Bruce was born and raised in Rocky Hill, CT. After graduating high school, Bruce worked for Elmore Vault Company and shortly after joined the US Navy and spent six years working on aircraft carriers as an Aviation Electrician. After his military service, Bruce began his long and successful career with The Hartford Insurance Group in property management, making his way up to Executive level, while proudly raising his family in Rocky Hill.

Bruce enjoyed building and racing model boats as a member of NAMBA. He also enjoyed camera repair, hunting, fishing and all around tinkering. His other passions included scuba diving, traveling extensively and talking with people all over the world as a ham radio operator (KC1DY).

In August 2001, he married Nancy (Verburg) and they made Sebastian, Florida their home for many years. Together they enjoyed traveling to many places. In February 2021 they relocated to Connecticut to be closer to family.

Bruce leaves behind his wife Nancy of South Windsor, CT, his two daughters Tracy Baker and her husband Bob of Hebron, CT and Jennifer C. Whitcomb and her wife Carrie Kleinschmidt of Andover, CT, his grandchildren Kyle Baker and his wife Devan of Manchester, NH and Aubrey Soltesz and her husband Luke of Southington, CT and his two great granddaughters, Addison Baker and Sophia Soltesz. Bruce was pre-deceased by his former wife, Judith (Hutchins) Whitcomb and his son, Scott Bruce Whitcomb.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury. Burial will be private.
