Obituary of Bertha L. Troiano

Bertha L. (Richi) Troiano, 88, of East Hartford and Boynton Beach, FL, beloved wife of the late Michael J. “Pop” Troiano, Jr., passed away on Friday (September 18, 2015) in East Hartford surrounded by her loving family. Born in Hartford, the daughter of the late Joseph A. Richi and Bertha (King) Richi Troiano. Bertha spent most of her adult life in East Hartford. She retired to Boynton Beach in 2001, splitting her retirement years between Florida and Connecticut. She retired from St. Mary’s Church in East Hartford where she had been employed as the church secretary/bookkeeper for many years. After moving to FL, she served as the secretary for the Sterling Village Condo Association. Bertha loved a good book, a well-made margarita (no salt), trips to the beach, card games & tiles, her iPad, and game nights in CT with her family. Bertha is survived by her eight devoted children and their spouses: Michael J. and Mary Troiano, III of Lake Worth, FL; Lois A. Troiano and her companion Michael Sherman of Manchester; Joseph A. and Lois L. Troiano of Vero Beach, FL; Daniel R. and Paula Troiano of South Windsor; Patricia T. and Steven Hermanowski of East Hartford, John M. and Karen Troiano of Stafford; Thomas R. and Diane Troiano of South Windsor and David A. and Ana Maria Troiano of South Windsor. She also leaves 16 cherished grandchildren, Lori and her husband Jim Spillane, Jamie Thom, Mark Troiano, Nathan Troiano, Steven Hermanowski, Jr., Michael Hermanowski, Bobbie-Lynn and her husband Michael Reska, Danielle Hermanowski, Anthony Troiano, Nikki and her husband Michael Craig, Marissa Troiano, Ashley Troiano, Taylor Troiano, Jenny Troiano, Nicolas Troiano, and Zachary Troiano. Seven great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Mara, Taylor, Skylar, Michael James, McKenna, Paisley, and 2 little girls on the way; many nieces, nephews and friends, and her dearest friend, Lilian Lombardo. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Shauna Marie Hermanowski; a daughter-in-law, Jeanne M. (Cluff) Troiano and a granddaughter-in-law, Mollie (Gray) Troiano. Bertha will be remembered for her fun-loving heart and willingness to try anything at least once. Funeral services, with a Mass and Christian Burial, will be held Tuesday (Sept. 22, 2015) 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 673 Ellington Rd, South Windsor. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church the morning of the funeral. Entombment will immediately follow at Saint Mary Cemetery, East Hartford. Calling hours will be Monday 4-7 pm at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave, Glastonbury.
