Obituary of Mary Barbara (Walsh) Sheaffer

Mary Barbara (Walsh) Sheaffer, of Glastonbury, died Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Glastonbury Health Care Center. Born August 17, 1927 in Holyoke MA to the late George F. and Hazel C. Walsh, she graduated from Emma Willard in Troy, NY in 1945 and then attended Katharine Gibbs in Boston, MA. In 1947 she married the late George W. Sheaffer in Pensacola, FL, relocated to West Hartford, then Waterford, East Hartford, Port St Lucie FL, before settling in Glastonbury. Mary worked as a secretary to Mayor Seibel of Holyoke in the 1950s and also worked in Waterford Welcome Wagon, L&M Hospital, Westinghouse at Millstone. She enjoyed being a Girl Scout Leader, in the Waterford Garden Club, impressionist painting, and entertaining family at the pool & the beach. Mary Barbara is survived by her daughters Kristine Savo, and her husband Michael, of Wethersfield, Diane Damato of Glastonbury, Suzanne Williams and her husband Keith, of Hopkinton, RI, Kathleen Sheaffer and her husband Brian Bowen, of East Lyme, and Maureen Robertson and her husband Christian of Glastonbury, her grandchildren, Brian and Kevin Savo, Eric, Nicholas, Michael and Greg Damato, Brandon, Kristen, Lindsay and Kellie Williams, Stephen and Jared Mills, Brian, Gillian and Hannah Robertson, as well as 18 great grandchildren.
